Mint Business Insights: October 2025 Edition
Key insights from our latest report:
1: Businesses are strongly optimistic that better times lie ahead in 2026.
Some are preparing for it by hoarding labour and planning more spending on advertising. However, there still appears to be some hesitancy in making firm decisions to boost investment in new plant and inventories.
2: Concerns are strong regarding the state of politics in New Zealand and the general tone of media.
Some are apprehensive about the potential outcome of next year's general election, and this may be a factor keeping capital spending plans in check for now.
3: Apart from spending on staff training, businesses are indicating rising plans to spend more on recruitment, remuneration, and workplace culture.
There may be some underlying concern that when customer flows are stronger and labour demand firms, the people sought may not be readily available.
